Door Access Control is an intelligent system which unlocks a door with verification, whether it is a keypad, card-swipe, prox key, fingerprint retinal scan, or a combination. Door access also can have valuable record-keeping functions, which can tell who went through what door at what time.

DOOR ACCESS EQUIPMENT
Door Access Control can involve a relatively simple standalone device, or could involve complicated software rack-mounted servers, and almost unnoticeable sensors. There are two aspects to door access: the hardware and the control equipment. Here are some examples.

The hardware makes up the electronic lock and release mechanism of the door, and it takes actions as directed by the control equipment. Magstrip and Prox Readers involve carrying around a little Keyfob or ID Card with a magnetic stripe, while Biometric and Numeric Readers involve a fingerprint, retinal scan or entering a code. In a modern Door Access System entries decided by, and recorded by, software. |
